These monthly spin sessions are designed to help you maintain your cycling fitness, build strength, and keep your power dialed in through the off-season.
At PIVOT, our cycling classes focus on Power Zone Training, a proven method that uses seven distinct effort levels, or “zones,” to guide your intensity. Each zone is represented by a color (blue, green, yellow, etc.) and corresponds to a percentage of your Functional Threshold Power (FTP) — the maximum wattage you can sustain for about an hour.
How It Works
Every class begins with a full warm-up through each color zone to help your body prepare and calibrate. From there, you’ll complete a 3-minute FTP test — a shorter, all-out effort that gives us a snapshot of your average power. The smart bike then calculates your FTP as 85% of your 3-minute average watts.
Example: If you average 100 watts, your FTP would be 85.
Once we have your FTP, all your training zones in class will be customized to your individual power levels, ensuring your ride is both personalized and effective.
What to Expect
Each month’s class will have a different training focus — such as:
Endurance: steady effort and stamina building
Strength: slower cadence, higher torque for power development
Capacity & Power: pushing cardiovascular limits with higher RPMs
Combination Sessions: blending strength and endurance for balance
These sessions are a fantastic way to stay connected to your cycling base through the winter — especially when paired with strength training!
