Change Happens in Community - Why Mountain Biking with Others Can Transform Your Life
For me, mountain biking, and more importantly, the community around it, has been the reason I’ve stayed connected to the sport. If it had just been me out riding solo or tagging along on my husband’s rides, I honestly don’t think I would have stuck with it.
And I hear this all the time from women:
"I’m not fast enough for a group ride."
"I always walk that section of the trail."
"I don’t want to hold anyone back."
"I’m just too busy..."
We make excuses. We shrink ourselves.
But here’s the truth: mountain biking became my excuse to get out. To claim my time. To do something for me. And that small decision led to big transformation.
My mission with Crank Queens is to help women transform their lives through mountain biking. Whether that’s by joining our membership, signing up for a group program, or coming to a retreat. Mountain biking can and will change your life if you let it.
Crank Queens started as a simple group text with 12 women. Today, we’re over 120 strong, and growing. Why? Because transformation thrives in community.
We don’t grow sitting alone on the couch night after night.
We grow by showing up.
By moving our bodies.
By laughing with friends on the trail.
By seeing other women do brave things and thinking, “Hey... maybe I can too.”
There’s a reason the science of behavior change tells us that doing things with other people makes it easier and more fun. When we ride together, our brains go, “Yes! This feels good. Let’s keep going.” And when we surround ourselves with women who are working toward similar goals—whether it’s becoming a stronger rider, prioritizing health, or simply showing up for themselves, it rewires our brains to see that path as safe and worth it.
Want to become a better rider?
Want to grow in your career, your health, your life?
Surround yourself with people doing the same.
That’s why I created Crank Queens. Not just for the ride schedules and gear swaps and events (though those are awesome too), but for the community. The connection. The transformation that happens when women come together and remind each other of what’s possible.
Change happens in community. Growth happens in community. And Crank Queens is here to ride that journey with you.

P.S. Fun fact, this photo is of an amazing women’s group in Bend, Oregon and they are starting a Crank Queens New to the Bike program Spring 2026. We can’t wait!
